The DJ (Discovering Jesus) Club is a club which has run for over 15 years.
It is run by a number of teachers, teaching assistants, parents and a member of the church. The club was started in September 2003 with the vision of making Christianity fun and relevant. It aims to cater for school-aged children in Key Stages 1 and 2, giving it a real family feel.
We are delighted that St. Andrew’s Church is supporting us in this. They have added to our funds and this link has fostered closer links with the church, with children displaying their artwork done in the DJ Club. This also leads to greater cohesion between the school and the church, and enables our clergy-led assemblies to be closely aligned to the work in class and after-school.
Each session lasts for 30 minutes and during this time we have different activities including drama, music, games, stories, craft, audio visual, puzzles, quizzes and prayer time. We cater for up to 25 children each week ranging from 5 to 11 years old, taking into account their differing needs. This has helped create good relationships between children and adults throughout the school.
