Christian Ethos In Action
We are very proud of the way we demonstrate our strong Christian ethos in the actions we take every day.
Our key values – Aim High, Show Respect and Make a Difference enable us to go out in to the world and effect real positive change – both locally and at a global level.
Here are some examples of what the children of St. Andrew’s Church School, Taunton do to live out our mission and values:
Archie Project
The Archie Project enables children to understand the challenges faced by local elderly people with Dementia. Children are given the opportunity to visit Kilkenny House (a residential care home) in Taunton and talk to the residents as a way to show mutual care, respect and understanding.
Journeying Together, by Somer Class 2018
One day on our journey our paths met;
At first we were strangers
But you were easy to talk to
We lit up your smiles with our singing
And you filled up our tummies with biscuits
Thank you for your kindness
I bid you farewell, not goodbye
One day on our journey our paths met;
You gave us the confidence to talk and listen
And stretched our minds with your stories
We loved looking at all of your photographs
And finding out about your amazing lives
Thank you for your wisdom
I bid you farewell, not goodbye
One day on our journey our paths met
We cherish the friendships we made
We enjoyed making bracelets with you
Every time I saw you, you were smiling
I felt so happy that I could make a difference
Thank you for bringing us happiness
I bid you farewell, not goodbye
One day on our journey our paths met
And along this journey I’ve grown
I think about others now, before myself
I am a more considerate person
Because of the kindness you have shown
Thank you for helping me to grow
I bid you farewell, not goodbye
One day on our journey our paths met
Now my journey has turned a new corner
We are going in different directions
And although I will miss you
I am a wiser traveller
Because of what you have taught me
So when I wave farewell,
Know that you have helped me on my way,
And I hope that our paths will cross again.
Malawi Project (St. Peter’s Education Trust)
St. Andrew’s Church School supports St. Peter’s Education Trust in its mission to build new school classes in Malawi.
Taunton Food Bank
As part of our key value to ‘Make A Difference’, we have been collecting tinned and dry food which we then deliver to Taunton Food Bank to help those who are less fortunate than us and who have genuine need.
Litter Pick
Last Spring our Christian Value was Service, and the School Council led a Litter pick at the rec so that we could serve our local community.
