Work is assessed by the class teacher at the end of each topic (half-termly) using the criteria taken from the National Curriculum 2014 and the St Andrews Skills Progression documents for both Art and D.T.

Assessment is made through observations in class sessions and through looking at both final pieces of work and also the process taken to reach their final product.

Pupil’s also review their own work either verbally or recorded in their books or folders which also contributes to assessment in both Art and D.T.

The assessment is then passed to the Art and D.T. subject leader and used to monitor and inform the teaching of Art and D.T. across the school. It is also used to assess if further teaching on a specific area is needed within a particular year group.
